This month at Cover to Cocktails we are going to highlight the Bahama Mama in honor of all of those cocktails that make us feel like we are on vacation. Our book this month was People We Meet On Vacation and I wanted to pick a drink that would give us the beachy vibe. Invented by Oswald Greenslade, a bartender at the Nassau Beach Hotel, I think this drink fits the bill. You may be asking "but Jen, of all the tropical cocktails out there, why the Bahama Mama?". Well, it was one of the few that I hadn't actually tried before and I'm excited to have now done so!
Susan and I both thought that this drink was delicious. Susan said it reminded her of cocktails that you would get on the cruise ship. She did find the dark rum a little strong and would maybe adjust with less of that and more coconut rum, or by adding a bit more juice. I like my drinks a little on the stronger side and thought it was a great combination! However you like yours, I think you will enjoy this drink! Until next time have a drink, read a book and be happy!
