Welcome back Cover to Cocktails fans. It has been a busy summer for us and after a small break in June we are back with a new book and cocktail. This month we are making something I like to call a Brain Teaser in honor on our book Me Vs Brain by Hayley Morris. For this cocktail I looked into foods that are supposed to be good for our brains like nuts, green tea and dark chocolate, and then crammed them together in a cocktail. I like to think of it as a brain teaser because the concept is that all of these foods are good for your brain, but probably not so much as a cocktail.

Susan and I were both incredibly skeptical of how good this cocktail would be when I sent her the recipe. It was either going to be an unlikely winner or absolutely terrible! Thankfully it was and unlikely winner. The flavors of the cocktail were smooth and actually blended well, but you could definitely get hints of everything. Susan used Frangelico instead of the peanut butter whisky. She said it was a little over powering so she would try less next time. The great thing about this is that it would be easy to modify to your tastes. If you like more of an almond flavor you could add more Amaretto. If you don't like chocolate (like my crazy husband) you could omit the Creme de Cacao. Or you could drink as is and enjoy the very light and refreshing drink that the green tea provides. If you don't want the caffeine (caffeine makes me a little crazy) it's easy to find decaf green tea too. We hope you enjoy this one as much as we did. Until next time have a drink, read a book and be happy!

Recipe

.5 oz creme de cacao

.5 oz amaretto

.5 oz screwball (peanut butter whisky) -Optional but yummy if you can find it

Green Tea

1/4 tsp Honey

lemon

Brew a cup of green tea and mix in honey while it is still warm. Cool your tea. In a rocks glass add ice. Add the first 3 ingredients. Top with the green tea and honey mix and stir. Cut the lemon in half and quarter it. Give a slight squeeze of the quartered lemon in the glass. Make a thin slice from the other half of the lemon and use it to garnish. Stir and enjoy!
