Fox In A Box

Welcome back Cover to Cocktails fans. We apologize for the short hiatus, but after a busy September we are back with another amazing installation of the Thursday Murder Club series, The Last Devil to Die. I embraced a number of inspirations from the book. With a throwback to the first cocktail from this series and to honor the love of wine in this book, I created another wine base cocktail. I also wanted to create a red "fluffy" cocktail to highlight a character that has been a cover model for the series, the fox! The box portion in the cocktail title will reveal itself once read this amazing book.

This was a favorite for Susan and I! All of the flavors were distinct but also blended well at the same time, with the wine and lemon coming through first and a nice raspberry finish. The ginger ale added a wonderful bit of fizz and tang to the drink. There was a great flavor in the foam and the texture was perfect for the cocktail, giving it the exact "fluffy" feel I was looking for. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did. Recipe

1 oz Raspberry Liquor

.5 oz Lemon Juice

Red Wine

Ginger Ale

Egg White

Add raspberry liquor and lemon juice to a rocks glass. Add wine until it is half full. Transfer to a shaker with ice. Shake for 20 seconds and strain back into the rocks glass. Add the egg white to the shaker and put the mix from the rocks glass back into the shaker. Shake for 20 seconds. Pour back into the rocks glass. Slowly top with ginger ale.
