Strawberry Fields

It's almost the end of summer, but we are going to continue enjoying the warm weather with a boozy milkshake! This cocktail was inspired by the book Mother Daughter Murder Night by Nina Simon. In the story there is a farm that has a diversity of agriculture including dairy and growing strawberries. I wanted to capture the essence in this in a drink. Strawberry fields combines real fruit and Strawberries and Cream Bailey's for an authentic fruit flavor. Mixed with vanilla ice cream this drink provides a wonderful summer treat.

Susan and I both loved this cocktail! We were both blown away by how much flavor the real strawberries provided, so definitely don't skimp on this. Mixed with the Bailey's it was a wonderful treat. I went with vanilla ice cream instead of strawberry because sometimes strawberry ice cream can be a little artificial. We both had to play around with the ratios of ice cream and milk, so experiment to get your consistency. The one thing we both did not was that you couldn't really taste the rumchata. So, it's up to you if you want to add it or not. Maybe try it both ways and see what you think. It may be better used in another cocktail. We hope you enjoy this one! Until next time, have a drink, read a book and be happy!

Recipe

1 oz Strawberries and Cream Bailey's

1 oz Coconut Rumchata (or Regular if you can't find coconut)

5-6 Strawberries (stems removed)

Vanilla Ice Cream

Milk (Optional)

Add the first three ingredients into a blender until the strawberries are pureed. Add three scoops of ice cream and blend until you get a thick milkshake like consistency. You may have to add a little more ice cream if it is too thin or some milk if it is too thick. Pour into a tall glass, add a strawberry slice to the side of the glass and enjoy!
